Our Dance Curriculum
- Hip Hop
Pre-Ballet is designed for students who are ages 3 to 7. Pre-Ballet classes teach basic dance skills and encourage creative movement and improved coordination, timing, balance, rhythm, poise, grace and self-expression. Songs, dance and musical games make Pre-Ballet both educational and enjoyable. Pre-Ballet meets for 45 minutes each week.
Ballet and Pointe: Beginning at age 8, students are introduced to a graded ballet curriculum. Pointe work begins when a student has reached Grade 3A. An audition is required for placement and enrollment in our graded ballet classes.
Tumble students will begin with floor and mat exercises and progress through tumbling skills. Greater flexibility is acquired and body conditioning is emphasized. Classes are leveled Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced.
Beginner Tumbling Classes are for entry-level students who have limited, or no tumbling experience.
Intermediate Tumbling Classes are for students who have had a couple of years of training. An intermediate tumbler has mastered a back handspring and is working on consecutive back handsprings.
Advanced Tumbling Classes are for students who have acquired proper technique and strength through years of training and exercise. An advanced tumble student has mastered consecutive back handsprings.
Modern dance also emphasizes use of extension, release, fall & recover, momentum & force, and improvisation. Expressiveness and freedom of individuality are encouraged, as well as use of breath, energy and connection for each movement.
Contemporary is an expressive class dedicated to the exploration of movement and challenge of traditional dance steps.
Lyrical dance is a technique with emphasis on using the body to translate the words and message of a song.
Jazz is comprised of technical movement and rhythm. This lively class is often taught to popular music and encourages body conditioning through technique. Students must be at least 6 years old to participate in this class.
Tap is percussive movement form that teaches rhythm, timing and balance. Our instructors use modern and inspiring music. Our tap curriculum is graded to accomodate various age and competency levels.
Drama is the production, performance and writing of plays. Our classes focus on expression, improvisation and memorization through imagination, exploration and discovery. Students must be at least 8 years old to participate in this class.
Hip Hop is an expressive dance form that fuses jazz and everyday movement. Set to popular music, Hip Hop is an energetic dance form with a range of styles and constantly evolving moves.
